Everything in Lewis’ Heaven is consistently described as both extremely large and incredibly solid. Hell, by contrast, is extremely small (in chapter 13 it is described as smaller than an atom), and populated by insubstantial and smoke-like ghosts. What might Lewis be trying to symbolize through these descriptions?

What is this duality, almost a split personality, meant to symbolize? What is the meaning of the Dwarf shrinking and disappearing as the Tragedian speaks?
