Company: Diamond Construction
Sector/Type: External Membrane or Basement Waterproofing
Start Date: Nov 22
As approved applicators of RIW Systems CCL were introduced to Diamond Construction to offer a combined waterproofing solution for a new Sikh temple including meditation hall in Ealing. The following systems were installed:
- RIW Structureseal pre-applied sodium bentonite membrane was applied to suitable blindings and face of secant piles prior to the groundworkers forming reinforced concrete basement slab and liner walls.
- Numerous dowel bars were required to tie the walls into the piles, and after these were post fixed through the Structureseal membrane CCL returned, dealing around each dowel with RIW Structureseal sealing compound
- To provide a belt and braces approach RIW’s Cavity Drain system was also installed to the inside of the basement to provide a robust waterproofing approach, fully complying with BS8102: 2022 ‘Protection of below ground structures against water ingress’ · This included RIW R7 cavity drain membrane to walls, Aquachannel to recessed channels at wall/floor junctions and RIW R20 cavity drain to basement slab. · To compliment the cavity drain system, CCL selected twin Titan NP400 pumps together with Newton’s Victron battery back-up system and high level water alarm within the sumps to ensure any water entering the system is efficiently pumped away. · As the basement footprint was larger than the ground floor level above, this left an element of exposed concrete roof decks that needed to be waterproofed prior to finishes and landscaping being installed. To tackle this CCL elected the use of RIW Flexiseal 500HG liquid applied waterproofing system and further protected with RIW Doubledrain
