*Submit Informal Proposal First*
By now you have already submitted a short proposal that outlines
your basic research idea. The proposal you are writing is
somewhat different because it reflects the proposals that many
academic researchers write.
By this point, you need to have read some of your sources and
you should be familiar with others. This proposal needs to discuss
the folowing:
·Introduce your topic and summarize some of your research.
·Propose your argument. Start the paragraph with, “In this
research paper, I wil be arguing . . .” This is a proposal, so it
proposes an idea. As we conduct research, sometimes our
positions wil change, so you can adjust the argument if
needed when you write your paper.
Discuss what makes this research needed. Why should we
read your paper? Are you researching plastic waste? If so,
what does your research provide to the discussion: ie. how
plastic waste affects the ocean.
Explain why you think your research is important. Imagine a
potential audience. Who could use this research? Who might
argue your research? Who benefits from your research?
