As part of the Unit IV assessment for this course, each student is required to submit a research paper that demonstrates critical thinking, scholarly engagement, and academic writing skills. The evaluation will be based on publication of the research paper and a viva voce to be conducted after submission. Please follow the detailed guidelines below: Topic Selection: The research paper should ideally focus on themes related to Detective Literature, including but not limited to genre conventions, narrative strategies, psychological dimensions, representation of crime and justice, gender and surveillance, or comparative studies. However, students are also allowed to work on alternate literary or interdisciplinary themes, with prior approval. All topics must reflect academic rigor and originality. Authorship Requirement: All papers must be submitted under my guidance, and my name (Dr. Deepali) should be mentioned as the Primary Author. Students will list themselves as Co-authors, indicating that the work is conducted under academic supervision. Formatting Guidelines: Word Limit: 3000–5000 words (excluding bibliography). Font and Layout: Times New Roman, 12 pt., double-spaced, 1-inch margins. Structure: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Literature Review, Main Argument/Analysis, Conclusion, and References. Citation Style: MLA 9th edition or APA 7th edition (consistently followed). Publication Requirement: All students are required to publish their research paper, preferably in a Scopus or Web of Science (WoS) indexed journal. Papers published in other peer-reviewed journals must still maintain academic credibility and must not be in predatory or non-indexed journals. Students must verify the indexing status of the journal before submission and consult with me if uncertain. Proof of publication or acceptance (with DOI/URL and indexing confirmation) must be submitted with the final paper. Plagiarism Check: The paper must be original and will be subjected to a plagiarism check. The acceptable similarity index is not more than 10%, excluding quotations and references. Viva Voce: After submission and publication, each student will appear for a viva voce examination, which will assess the understanding of their chosen topic, methodology, analysis, and overall contribution. Dates for the viva voce will be announced after all submissions are received. Submission Deadline: The final paper, along with proof of publication/acceptance, must be submitted by 25th May 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted without prior approval and valid reason. Evaluation Criteria: Originality and depth of topic Quality of research and argumentation Proper structure and academic style Authenticity and standard of publication Clarity and confidence during viva voce
